The Big Vision

Plunder Hell, Populate Heaven: An Invitation to Partner With Daniel & Katie Ziedins

"I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."— Matthew 16:18
By Daniel Ziedins 7 min read

There is a cry that has echoed through stadiums on three continents and down the streets of our own city: plunder hell, populate heaven. It is not a slogan. It is a description of what Jesus said His church would do.

The late evangelist Reinhard Bonnke made that phrase famous. But the picture is older than any of us. Jesus asked, "How can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man?" (Matthew 12:29). And He promised that the gates of hell — gates are defensive, by the way — would not prevail against the church He is building (Matthew 16:18).

The church was never meant to be a fortress waiting out a siege. It was meant to be the army at the gates.

"He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son." Colossians 1:13

That is what plunder means. Not property. People. Sons and daughters held captive, carried out of darkness and brought home. This article is an honest look at how that vision is being worked out — from a prayer room, to the streets of Hamilton, to the nations — and an open invitation for you to be part of it.

1. It starts on our knees

Every awakening in history has the same first chapter: people praying. Before the streets, before the stages, before the harvest, there is a remnant on its knees.

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

That verse is the heartbeat of God Heal Our Land, the national call to prayer, repentance and revival for Canada that Daniel Ziedins founded. Notice the order in the verse. Humble. Pray. Seek. Turn. Then hear, forgive, heal. Healing is God's part; humility is ours. You can read a careful walk through what the verse does and doesn't promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 Meaning.

We don't pray because we have run out of strategies. We pray because prayer is the strategy. Hell is not plundered by clever programs. It is plundered when the strong man is bound — and that happens on our knees.

2. Then we go

Prayer that never leaves the room has forgotten what it was praying for. Jesus told us to pray for labourers — and then, in the very next chapter, He sent the ones who prayed (Matthew 9:38–10:5).

"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?… How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" Romans 10:14–15

In 2014 Daniel and Katie Ziedins didn't launch a ministry. They started walking downtown Hamilton with coffee and one question: "Can we pray with you for anything?" That walk became Love on Hamilton. Twelve years later, by their own account, it has grown into 20+ weekly outreach teams of ordinary believers who go out without needing anyone to lead them, a Sunday-evening gathering called Overflow, and Jesus Festival — a free citywide gathering where a whole city comes together to worship and hear about Jesus. Daniel and Katie tell that story in Twelve Years on the Streets.

None of that was engineered. It came from showing up — in February, in the cold, when nobody was watching — and from a conviction that the people everyone walks past are the people Jesus walks toward.

3. Equip. Evangelize. Establish.

A single outreach team can reach a street. A multiplying movement can reach a nation. That is why Daniel and Katie serve on staff with e3 Canada, whose mission is captured in three words:

"Equipping God's people to Evangelize His world and Establish His Church." e3 Canada

e3's stated vision — one they have been working toward since e3 Partners began in 1987 — is a local church accessible to everyone, everywhere. They pursue it through gospel training, short-term mission trips, international workers, church partnerships and local evangelism. It is the Great Commission with a plan attached:

  • Equip — train ordinary believers to share the gospel with clarity and confidence in everyday life. (If you lead a church, Daniel and Katie bring this to congregations through practical evangelism training.)
  • Evangelize — take the good news into the streets, the workplace, the festival grounds and the nations.
  • Establish — don't stop at a decision. Plant and strengthen local churches so the people who say yes have a family to grow in.

That last word matters. Populating heaven isn't a numbers game. It's sons and daughters discipled, rooted and sent — who then go and plunder the next street.

4. Where Kingdom-Comms fits

You're reading this on Kingdom-Comms, so it's fair to ask what a chat platform has to do with any of this.

Movements run on communication. A prayer movement needs a place where requests are shared, answers are celebrated and prompts go out every morning. Twenty outreach teams need to know who's going where, what happened, and who needs a follow-up call. A festival needs hundreds of volunteers moving as one body. Most ministries try to do that through a tangle of group texts.

Kingdom-Comms was built by the same hands that run those teams — free, so that cost never stands between a church and the tools it needs. Prayer channels that feed outreach teams. Event channels that become follow-up channels. A network directory that connects the whole movement. It is a small piece of infrastructure, given away so the big work moves faster.

5. The vision: a nation awakened, the nations reached

Daniel and Katie have written plainly that they believe Canada is on the edge of the greatest revival it has ever seen — "not because of a mood, but because we keep meeting people who are genuinely hungry."

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

Here is what that looks like in practice:

  • A praying remnant across every province, carrying Canada before God through God Heal Our Land.
  • Multiplying outreach teams in more cities, through Love on The World and the groups being established through Evangelize.World.
  • Festivals in more cities — whole communities gathering around one name — through Jesus Festival Movement.
  • Churches equipped and established at home and abroad, through e3 Canada.

It is bigger than any one couple, any one city, any one ministry. That is exactly why it needs partners.

6. Three ways to partner

Paul thanked the Philippians for their "partnership in the gospel from the first day until now" (Philippians 1:5). Partnership was never second-class ministry. The ones who sent were in the battle as surely as the ones who went.

  1. Pray. Genuinely the most valuable thing anyone gives. Join the call at GodHealOurLand.com/pray and pray for Daniel, Katie and the teams by name.
  2. Go. Join a weekly outreach through Love on Hamilton, or invite Daniel and Katie to equip your church. Start a team on Kingdom-Comms and bring your people with you.
  3. Give monthly. Monthly partners are what let a ministry plan, train and go further. You can partner with Daniel and Katie through their e3 Canada staff page. e3 Canada states that it issues charitable tax receipts for gifts, and giving happens on e3's own secure site.

Populate heaven

John saw the end of the story before any of us lived it:

"After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb." Revelation 7:9

Every one of them was carried out of darkness by someone who prayed, someone who went, and someone who sent. Hell will be plundered. Heaven will be full. The only question is whether we'll be part of it.

We'd love you to be. All for His glory, in Jesus' name.

Questions people ask

What does "plunder hell, populate heaven" mean?

It is the rallying cry the late evangelist Reinhard Bonnke made famous. It pictures evangelism the way Jesus described it in Matthew 12:29 — binding the strong man and taking back what he has stolen — and its goal is people: rescued from the domain of darkness and brought into the kingdom of God's Son (Colossians 1:13).

Who are Daniel and Katie Ziedins?

Daniel and Katie Ziedins are Hamilton, Ontario-based evangelists who have served together in street outreach since 2014 through Love on Hamilton. They help lead Jesus Festival Hamilton, founded the God Heal Our Land call to prayer, build free ministry tools like Kingdom-Comms, and serve on staff with e3 Canada. Their ministry home is KD-Ziedins.com.

What is e3 Canada?

e3 Canada (e3 Ministry Canada) exists for "Equipping God's people to Evangelize His world and Establish His Church." Its stated vision is a local church accessible to everyone, everywhere, pursued through gospel training, short-term trips, church partnerships and local evangelism. Daniel and Katie serve on staff and are supported through their e3 Canada staff page.

How can I partner with Daniel and Katie?

Three ways: pray (join the God Heal Our Land call to prayer at GodHealOurLand.com/pray), go (join a Love on Hamilton outreach or bring evangelism training to your church), and give monthly through their e3 Canada staff page at e3ministry.ca/staff/katie-daniel-ziedins.

Is a gift through e3 Canada tax-deductible?

e3 Canada states that it issues a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of your giving each year (merchandise purchases excluded). Giving happens on e3 Canada's own site and under its policies; Kingdom-Comms never sees or processes payment details.

How does God Heal Our Land connect to evangelism?

2 Chronicles 7:14 puts prayer and repentance before healing. God Heal Our Land is the call to pray; outreach is the call to go. Every awakening in history has needed both — people on their knees and people in the streets — and this partnership is built to hold both together.
